Connect on LinkedIn
The only reason that I am a freqquent guest on radio talk shows and television news and public affairs programs is that I have interesting insights regarding unsecured consumer debt and the collection industry.
Over the past few days since the launch of both the Mark Silverthorn Blog and Comprehensive Debt Solutions Inc.’s new website, www.comprehensivedebtsolutions.ca, a significant number of people have been contacting me asking to Connect on LinkedIn. These people fall into one of several categories:
- people I know from working twelve years in the collection industry
- former clients when I practised law
- people with whom I have never dealt with before
- former girlfriends
It has been great to reconnect with many of the people with whom I dealt with many years ago. Between 1994 and 2006–when I was the collection lawyer for four of the ten largest collection agencies in Canada in the Greater Toronto Area–I would have met literally hundreds of collectors and supervisory staff. A substantial number of these people are now in senior mangement positions at collection agencies, working for creditors, or earn a living in related industries such as debt settlement or as mortgage brokers or acting as consultants to the collection industry.
I am also excited about the opportunity to network with individuals with whom I have never had the pleasure of dealing with before or have only known by reputation.
I am fortunate that I have an incredible network of contacts across a diverse category of groups.
Over the past few weeks I have come across a number of very interesting individuals on LinkedIn Discussion Groups and I hope to participate more in these groups in the weeks and months to come.
When I blog I am providing facts and analysis and this information is only as good as the sources of information that I have available to me. I do have an excellent network of contacts in the collection industry, credit professionals, financial advisers, professionals in the debt settlement, credit counseling, and the mortgage industry, among bankruptcy trustees, civil litigation lawyers and paralegals, as well as members of the media.
I always look forward to the opportunity to network, exchange information, explore potential business opportunities, and from time to time offer career advice to those requesting it. If you have visited the Mark Silverthorn Blog or www.comprehensivedebtsolutions.ca then I would invite you to send me an invitation to Connect on LinkedIn.
i would not have been able to write The Wolf At The Door wihout the input of literally hundreds of individuals.
